Big Sky Country

Back in August (I think?) we spent a little time in Kansas visiting the relatives.  We actually spent a little bit of time in several places, all along the way to Alabama…in the car….with 3 kids!  And they were great travelers, honestly!

William helped Grandpa drive his super big tractor!   I’m not sure, but I think he had fun.

Savannah wasn’t too sure about driving a tractor that big.  So she found some fun in the field.  What child hasn’t helped spread dandelion seeds everywhere?

Can you see the seeds blowing away in the wind?

Wow!  That’s a BIG truck!  William checks out Grandpa’s semi truck that he uses for hauling wheat (and corn? and sunflower seeds?).

Scarlett gets a turn at the wheel of the big rig.

As long as there is no one in the drivers seat, and no key in the ignition, I’ll stand up here.  :)

Okay everyone!  Whatever you do, make sure you DON’T LOOK AT THE CAMERA! LOL

So I can only see 1 eye in this photo, I see one great smile on Grandpa’s face.  That’s all that matters.  Right?

I’m not sure what they were saying here, but it sure looks like they were having fun.

Quick!  Before she unscrews the lugnuts!

Me?  Lil ol’ me?

Oh how this lil face melts my heart.

Bugs and Pumpkin fun

Tonight Nathan needed me to work at the newsstand while he studied.  So, with 3 kids in tow, I headed to the newsstand with pumpkins, paint and a knife.  Luckily the newsstand has plenty of newspapers so clean up was easy.

Savannah wanted to paint her pumpkin.

William prefers the carved pumpkin.  Thankfully he was happy with just having the top part cut off.  Much easier to manage that request while managing the newsstand and caring for 3 wild kids.

Can you tell he was excited about his pumpkin? (p.s. taking photos in the dark with a wiggly 20 month old on my front *thanks to the wonderful babyhawk*, isn’t exactly easy)

Scarlett was perfectly content eating chippies from “the chippy restaurant” (Chipotle) (BTW: I didn’t let my first or second child have tortilla chips until they were at least two years old.  Scarlett, well that’s another story.  She’s the third, what more can I say?)

Then, just as we were getting ready to go, they found a bug.  Looks like a grasshopper, sort of.  I’m not sure what it is.  But one thing is for sure, it was a whole lot of fun for these two.

Our favorite time of the year!

October 2005 Nathan and I went to the Tierra Rejada Underwood Family Farm for the very first time and while we were there I snapped some really fun photos of our baby girl.  That baby girl is now 5 1/2 years old!  Each year we go back for more fall goodness and of course the photos!

Here’s Scarlett just naturally laying here very Vogue-like.  This was not posed, mind you.  She likes to find places to lay down and this pumpkin was one of those places she thought would be a comfy spot to take a lil rest.

(these are straight out of the camera, no adjustments as I am currently without any photo editing software)

And here I must have asked her something because she is holding up her hands saying, “I no no?!”  (I don’t know.)

And this lil girl, who isn’t so little anymore.  She is sweet as can be, most of the time.  :) Watch out though!  Because when she gets in one of ‘those’ moods….it is NOT fun!

Up until this year Savannah did not want me to take her picture.  This year she has done a complete 180 and has decided she should be in all the photos!  Here she was telling me, “Take my picture, Mom!”  No posing from me.

And the sweetest boy ever!  Here he is picking out his pumpkin, or maybe he was just showing me how strong he is.  Or both!

I hope you don’t mind looking at this side ways!  Until I get photoshop my photos will be remaining SOOC. (straight out of the camera)  Your chiropractor can thank me later.  ;)

Newborn goodness

Last week I had the joy of photographing these two sweet little girls, so precious and new.

Traditions

When Savannah was 1 year old we took her to In n Out for her first hamburger, fries and milk shake.  She LOVED it!  I think you can tell this much from the photos.  Five years later we took Scarlett to the same place, same meal (minus the milk shake) for a similar photo shoot.  It wasn’t Scarlett’s first time, but she loved it just as much. More to come later tonight maybe.  But here’s a sneak peek.  Savannah is in the orange dress, Scarlett is in red.

Scarlett’s favorite is the french fries.  She loves the meat patties too but was unsure how she was supposed to take a bite of the hamburger.  This was actually her first time having a hamburger WITH a bun.  The older kids are now glutten free and so Scarlett has never experienced the bun….until now, that is. :)

And here’s William’s before and after photo. :)
